Cryotherapy is a method integral to the treatment protocols for various diseases and conditions at the Fizionova Center.

The concept of cryotherapy, in the broadest context, refers to therapeutic methods based on the application of low temperatures or ice for tissue cooling.

The application of low temperatures to tissue causes the narrowing of blood vessels, making this form of therapy suitable for treating muscle spasms, which often result in back pain, lumbar pain, as well as shoulder and neck pain.

At the Fizionova Center, we employ cryotherapy for therapeutic treatment of:

  • Lymphedema
  • Algodystrophy (Sudeck's disease)
  • Tennis elbow
  • Rotator cuff syndrome
  • Disc herniation
  • Muscle injuries
  • Lower back muscle spasms
  • Shoulder dislocation
  • Knee injuries from falls
  • Knee ligament injuries
  • Lower back pain

Cryotherapy a relaxing effect, reduces pain, and has anti-inflammatory properties.

The application of this method can also enhance the effectiveness of anti-inflammatory medications.

Cryotherapy with ice is a form of treatment that has been present since ancient times, finding its application in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Cold has a beneficial effect on the overall health of the body

As we have already mentioned, the beneficial effect of cold on the body and healing has been known to people for centuries.

Cold compresses have always been used in folk medicine to treat painful areas and swelling.

People have long used ice, for example, to reduce swelling around the ankles or swelling from insect bites.

The application of cryotherapy leads to the rapid narrowing of blood vessels, and after their subsequent dilation, there is an improvement in blood circulation.

Cryotherapy has a beneficial effect in treating numerous issues, particularly highlighting its beneficial effect in relieving pain, such as:

  • Lower back pain
  • Lumbar pain
  • Shoulder and neck pain
  • Upper back pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Pain between the shoulder blades

You've probably heard that athletes, after intense training or matches, lie in an ice-filled tub.

This method of rehabilitation may seem strange to most people, but cold can indeed mitigate the damage after intense exercise.

It is known that cold has a positive impact on overall health. Improved blood circulation enables the reactivation of the immune system and enhances cell metabolism.

If you are someone who practices morning showers with slightly colder water, you have likely experienced the powerful effects of this morning routine.

CRYOTHERAPY AT THE FIZIONOVA CENTER

background shape

At the Fizionova Center, exclusively local cryotherapy is practiced, meaning that only a specific region is treated, not the entire body.

Therefore, our patients, unlike professional athletes, will not be in an ice-filled tub; instead, the treatment will resemble more of a massage.

The procedure involves gently massaging the targeted area with a stick wrapped in ice.

At the Fizionova Center, this treatment is conducted either immediately before or after a specific physiotherapeutic method.

This helps relax the muscles and reduce spasms. Cryomassage is most commonly applied to the back, shoulders, or joints.

Unlike a traditional massage, the movements are linear, not circular. This procedure is entirely painless and has a relaxing effect.

However, it is crucial not to attempt this procedure at home to avoid the risk of frostbite.

At the beginning of the treatment, the cold may cause discomfort, but tolerance will increase quickly, and your skin will adapt to the ice more easily.

Our team has created a specific protocol for each condition and injury treated at the Fizionova Center, consisting of a series of therapeutic procedures.

Below is a list of protocols within which Cryotherapy is applied at the Fizionova Center:

  • Protocol 609 (algodystrophy)
  • Protocol 610 (muscle injuries of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees)
  • Protocol 612 (dislocation of the glenohumeral joint, i.e., shoulder dislocation)
  • Protocol 615 (epicondylitis)
  • Protocol 620 (lymphedema)
  • Protocol 622 (rotator cuff syndrome)
  • Protocol 631 (knee injuries)
