Physical therapy at Fizionova Center is conducted following detailed protocols.

It is effective in restoring and achieving complete freedom of movement, reducing or eliminating pain, avoiding surgeries, and reducing the use of pain medications.

The primary goal of therapy is often to reduce the patient's pain while increasing their activity level or range of motion.

Many people are under the misconception that only surgery can help their condition. This is a typical mistake because physical therapy can sometimes be as effective and certainly less invasive as a treatment method.

Here's why physical therapy is important and what its advantages are.

Benefits of Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is used to treat numerous health problems in people of all ages. It is effective in:

  • Alleviating pain
  • Improving mobility
  • Recovering from sports injuries and preventing them
  • Rehabilitating after a stroke, accidents, injuries, or surgeries
  • Avoiding invasive surgical treatments

What Does Working with a Physical Therapist Look Like?

After the initial examination, during which the therapist will take your detailed medical history and disease history and after establishing the diagnosis, a treatment plan is devised.

The treatment plan is implemented individually for each patient, depending on their condition, type of injury, and the patient's personal goals.

The proposed treatments may include:

  • Exercise and/or stretching plan under the supervision of the therapist
  • Massages, cryotherapy, electrotherapy, kinesiotherapy, or SWFT therapy (ultrasound therapy) following different protocols

The therapist will monitor your progress and adjust the treatments as needed.

Additionally, the therapist may instruct you on exercises you can do at home (between sessions).

Why Might You Need Physical Therapy and the Application of FSWT - Focused Shockwave Therapy?

Physical therapy is almost always a positive experience that significantly improves the quality of life for those working with a competent therapist. In some cases, physical therapy can be even more effective than surgical treatment.

The most common reasons patients are referred for physical therapy include the following:

1. To eliminate or reduce pain and/or movement limitations

In cases of severe pain and restricted movement in bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and soft tissues around the joints, physical therapy can be very effective. Various massages and techniques such as electrostimulation, kinesiotherapy, or FSWT - Focused Shockwave Therapy, can contribute to improved blood circulation and faster tissue healing. These treatment methods can also prevent the recurrence of the same pains.

2. To Avoid Surgery and Invasive Treatment

While surgery was once the only way to cure certain physical conditions, a more conservative approach dictates trying physical therapy first.

Physical therapy can help eliminate pain and heal various conditions and injuries, sometimes to an extent that surgery may not be necessary.

If surgery is unavoidable, pre-surgical physical therapy contributes to better physical condition, enabling a better recovery outcome after the operation.

However, there are situations where physical medicine can completely eliminate the need for surgery.

Numerous studies (as well as our personal experience with patients) have shown that physical therapy can sometimes be as effective as surgery in relieving pain in conditions such as lower back pain, such as spinal stenosis, treating meniscus tears and knee osteoarthritis, degenerative spinal diseases, carpal tunnel syndrome, and others.

Unless surgery is truly inevitable or the condition is urgent, physical therapy is a non-invasive way to help the body regenerate and heal from various conditions.

Many patients who have gone through Fizionova Center have managed to completely avoid surgical procedures only with the help of our protocols and non-invasive therapy. This is because the treatment plans are tailored to individual goals, needs, and different challenges that vary from patient to patient.

If you are considering surgery and want to try less invasive treatment options first, contact us and schedule your appointment.

Our therapists will ensure you receive the most appropriate and least invasive treatment for your individual case.

3. To Improve Mobility and Movement Control

For people experiencing mobility issues, regardless of age, physical therapy can be of great help. In addition to creating a personalized care plan, a physical therapist can assist in selecting mobility aids, such as canes and crutches, and after joint replacement surgery (artificial hip, knee).

4. Rehabilitation After Stroke

A stroke can cost a person the ability to function normally or move their limbs. However, through physical therapy, balance can be restored, and strength in different parts of the body can be increased, speeding up the recovery and return to normal functioning in stroke survivors.

5. Rehabilitation After Sports Injuries

From knee injuries, ankle injuries, shoulder injuries, muscle injuries, and others, our therapists are very familiar with all sports injuries. In fact, professional athletes and recreational players are among the most common patients at Fizionova Center. Rehabilitation after increased effort and sports injuries is done through a multidisciplinary approach. The therapy consists of various protocols carefully designed by our therapists for complete recovery, not just pain relief and injury healing.

Additionally, the physiotherapist will create a plan to completely repair the damage and allow for a safe return to sports activities while preventing the risk of new injuries.
