In our physiotherapy center, kinesiotherapy is indispensable in almost all protocols – its beneficial effects can be local and general.

The most common procedures in kinesiotherapy include exercises, as well as sports and recreational activities conducted for active treatment or prevention of unpleasant conditions.

All forms of modern kinesiotherapy are based on the latest knowledge in the fields of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and kinesiology.

Jozef Klement Tiso, an Italian physician and physiotherapist who introduced physical exercises as a means of healing orthopedic injuries in his therapies in 1781, noted in his observations:

"Movement, in its action, replaces every therapeutic agent, while all medicinal agents cannot replace movement."

Basic goals of kinesiotherapy:

Preservation and restoration of normal joint mobility

  • Preservation and restoration of normal muscle strength
  • Motor education – learning movements
  • Motor reeducation – relearning movements
  • Preservation and restoration of coordination
  • Effect on the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as the cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems to achieve maximum functionality
  • Achievement of good mental state

Forms of kinesiotherapy:

Various forms of kinesiotherapy are applied in Fizionova Center, but in practice, the following are most commonly implemented:

Neurorehabilitation in Fizionova Center is conducted through authorized techniques: Kabat, Bobath, Frenkel, Vojta…

As a separate kinesiotherapeutic method, the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) technique is applied.

  1. Proprioceptive method involves certain sensory receptors that provide information about movement and body position.
  2. Neuromuscular method involves nerves and muscles.
  3. Facilitation or easing, is a method initiated by Dr. Herman Kabat in 1940, often referred to as the Kabat method. With increasing experience, it became clear that this therapeutic approach is effective in many areas of medical rehabilitation: using PNF, therapists have numerous possibilities to efficiently solve issues for the patient, such as pain, reduced muscle strength, contractures, disturbances in muscle tone, coordination, and posture.

Expertise is a prerequisite for determining kinesiotherapy.

A well-established functional diagnosis, understanding the functioning of prescribed exercises, initial position, duration, intensity, number of repetitions, as well as knowledge of potential side effects and contraindications are key to the positive effects of kinesiotherapy and a step forward in our mission for freedom of movement.
